Apple mighty mouse vs MS wireless laser mouse

Apple mighty mouse vs MS wireless laser mouse

Posted on 05. Feb, 2009 by John in Technology

A little history about my experience with these two products. I’ve been using the apple wireless and wired mighty mouse for about 2 years now. I’ve also had the Microsoft wireless notebook laser mouse 6000 for the same amount of time, if not longer.

The Microsoft wireless notebook laser mouse 6000:

PROS

  • The assignable buttons (especially the magnify one).
  • Smooth scroll. No clicking feeling when you scroll.
  • Compact and the usb connector fits in the bottom and shuts it off, which saves battery life.

CONS

  • Becomes jumpy at times and unresponsive even with a new battery. The problem seems to be interference by other devices, but I have not been able to figure out what.
  • It connects using a USB stick type connector which is more like a flash drive and is annoying to have hanging out of your laptop.

The Apple wireless/wired mighty mouse

PROS

  • Assignable buttons.
  • Roller ball is fully 360 degrees.
  • Allows for right-click even though it is one button.
  • The wireless version has 2 batteries which makes for much longer battery life.
  • Bluetooth connection, so there is no need for any adapters.

CONS

  • Sometimes you will click expecting a right-click and get a single click or vice-versa. This is due to the sensor technology which takes getting used to, but never the less it can be extremely annoying.
