Are you kidding me IE8?

I just saw this statement on the Microsoft site when reading about IE8. Check it out here
Compatibility view? Because a website may not comply with IE8 changes? I don’t get it. Are there not well established internet standards for websites already? Maybe I’m missing something. Maybe it just pertains to ASP based pages which only IE can currently run? If so why not just state that?

I agree. Any web designer is going to work hard to make their website look best in as many browsers as possible, not just IE7 or 8. Unless they are making a page that uses the .NET framework which is then locking them into using the page from a Windows based computer using Internet Explorer.
Oh well, I just don’t understand the logic. It’s not like Microsoft is making any money from Internet Explorer, so why not conform to standards?

Interesting that they would have such a feature. I can’t think of a developer that would only make a page render correctly in IE7. That would be foolish.
