How to silence the startup chime on your Mac!

Have you ever asked yourself the question…

“How do I stop my Mac from making that stupid chime noise when it boots up?”
“Someone PLEASE tell me how to stop the Apple chime boot sound!”
“Oh no, did I mute my Mac the last time I used it or leave the sound all the way up? I need to boot my Mac up and I’m in a quite place… uh, well, here goes nothing!”

This software enables you to control the volume of the startup sound of your Macintosh computer from Mac OS X. OR SILENCE IT COMPLETELY!

And YES it worked in Leopard and now works in Snow Leopard for me as well.
