WordPress 2.7 plugin auto-install not working

If you are getting the error [Failed to connect to FTP Server] when trying to use the new WordPress 2.7 auto install for plugins AND you have Network Solutions as your hosting company then go to Network Solutions and login. Next go to [Web Hosting] on the left. Now click on [FTP & Content Publishing]. Lastly go to [Reset File Permissions] and do it.

This also fixed the auto upgrade feature of plugins in WordPress 2.7. I really hope this helps someone because these features of 2.7 are awesome and extremely useful.

    Hey Ken,

The only thing I found by doing this was that I needed to lessen the security on some folders, so I’m thinking it probably shut some security holes I may have had instead of opening new ones.

    Just my opinion.

    Thanks for the comment.

Is there any down side that anyone has found with resetting file permissions?!? It works but makes me nervous. Seems like that may be opening a security hole or something? Any thoughts?
